E Cig E-Liquid Options – Difference Between VG and PG e-Liquid

E Cig E-Liquid Options
I often get asked which type of e cig e-liquid options is better, the answer is neither and both. Confused?

Well first take a look at the chart below, still confused?  Okay let me explain each of those categories.

1. Juice Thickness: Generally speaking, PG (propylene glycol) is by nature thinner liquid than VG (vegetable glycerin). Both are non toxic organic compounds and often found as food additives in variety of commercially available products.

2.  Throat Hit: Throat hit is the way the vapor feels on your throat, think of smoking a full flavor real cigarette Vs smoking a ultra light of the same brand cigarette. The full flavor hits your throat harder than the ultra light, similarly PG based liquid provides a better throat hit compare to the VG based ones.

3. Vapor Production: VG based liquid do produce much more vapor than the PG based ones. If you have been to any dance clubs, I am sure you have seen clouds of smoke that they produce to make the atmosphere more suitable, they use the VG liquid to produce that smoke.

4. Health Reaction: PG is a powerful humectants, so it naturally gives a dry and scratchy throat when smoked regularly. They can also create some allergic reaction similar to rash in some people. If you experience such issues, stop and switch. On the other hand VG type liquid is known to cause phlegm (mucus) and some degree of coughing.

5. Device Friendliness: Since PG is naturally thinner and runnier than its counterpart, the PG type is more easily absorbed by the polyfill fabric found in many atomizers and cartridges. Also because of its low density, there is less gunk build up on the heating element of the atomizer.

Conclusion: the vaping community is evenly divided when it comes to e-liquid choice. If you like throat hit more than the amount of vapor one produce  then you will like PG based liquid and vice versa. It truly comes down to personal choice. I started with PG based ones first then switched to a 50-50 mix. This way I get best of the both world. Color of the e-liquid also plays a key role on how your device reacts and how long will they last.

Vegetable glycerin is a thick, heavy, and sweet-tasting liquid. PG, by comparison, is very thin, but even sweeter than VG. PG is known to produce a great throat hit, and that is why some people favor it in their smokeless cigarettes.
